K240, 000 raised for Team PNG from 2022 Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge

The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) is pleased to announce that the Team PNG’s 2022 Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenges held this month in both Lae and Port Moresby respectively, has raised a total of K240,000.00 to assist with Team PNG’s participation at the Pacific Mini Games from the 17th to 25th June and Commonwealth Games from 28th July to 08th August.

In announcing this today, the PNGOC President Sir John Dawanicura wishes to acknowledge and thank those Corporates and Businesses that registered and fielded Teams for both events held in Lae and Port Moresby.
The Lae leg was held on the 08th of April and saw 26 organisations register and participate. The Port Moresby leg was held on the 25th of April, last week which saw 46 organisations registered with three complementary teams.
Sir John Dawanincura said the PNGOC Executive Board and Management were overwhelmed with the great support from the business communities through these events, despite the challenges with our country’s current business landscape due to the COVID pandemic.
“ Thank you to all the corporate organisations, business houses, state-owned government entities and sporting golf clubs that took part in this year’s PM’s Golf Challenge which saw us raise over K200,000.00 for Team PNG ”, he said. Sir John acknowledged major sponsor The National, Hole-In-One Sponsor Ela Motors PNG Support sponsors of the event: Air Niugini, Coral Sea Hotels Group, Brian Bell Group, SP Brewery Ltd, Coca-Cola Euro Pacific Partners, Theodist, Trukai Industries Limited, Trophy Haus PNG, Media Partners PNG and Blue7 Team. Sir John also thanked the Lae Golf Club and Royal Port Moresby Golf Club for hosting this prestige event and also the Prime Minister, Honourable James Marape for his patronage of this event.

All Funds raised this year will go towards Team PNG’s participation at the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Marianas from June 17th-25th and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the United Kingdom from July 28th-8th of August this year.
